aboutmymusicians
Of course they're not MY musicians, but I do have my regular players and if you come see any of my small groups, you're likely to see at least some of these guys on the bandstand with me. They are all freelance musicians and if I ever want to book them I have to be quick as they are the most sought-after musicians in town! But I love them so much, I wanted to introduce you to them.
Alistair McEvoy - saxophones
Al is as melodic a sax player as they come, and can also play the raunchiest blues this side of the freeway. And he's a pro-am golfer. Go figure! But he sometimes wears a hat, which always puts a guy in a singer's good books....
Troy Roberts - saxophones
When he's in town (Troy is now based in the USA), you can often find Troy playing with Libby and the gang. Libby and Troy are well-known to be part of a mutual admiration society and always look forward to their next opportunity to rip it up on the band stand.
Chris Foster - piano
Chris is an exciting young player on the Perth scene with loads of experience in many different genres, including hip hop! Phat.
Glyn MacDonald - piano
Glyn is one of Perth's most proactive pianists, with an impressive touring history and catalog of recordings. Glyn is also one of Western Australia's most valued jazz educators.
Nick Abbey - double bass
Originally from Melbourne, Nick moved to Perth to study jazz and now is indispensable in the Perth jazz scene. He plays in many award-winning jazz groups from all over Australia, so I am thrilled that he likes to play in my group. Phew!
Karl Florisson - double bass
Karl has also been a big part of both my small groups and the big band for some years now. He is a wonderful bass player and as an extra bonus, he is super smiley. This nice photo of Karl is by Craig Chiswell.
Michael Perkins - drums
There's only one man who plays drums just right for ol' Lib and that's Michael Perkins. Michael is equally at home in trios, big bands and even orchestras!
